We are talking
about your decision to say “Yes!” to Jesus!
Did you
know that all of heaven is celebrating for you right now?! Luke 15:7 tells us
that.
You have
made the most important decision to believe in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.
No matter
when you made this decision, you might be wondering:
“What now?
What does it mean to follow Jesus?”
Have you asked
those questions?
In this
devo series we are going to look at key truths and habits that will help you
start your new life in Christ!
We pray
that these teachings and tips will help you walk with Jesus and continue to
grow in your faith in the days and years ahead.
You've
just started!
First
let's review what you said “Yes!” to.
In the
book of John in the Bible, Jesus is telling people who He is.
He uses
seven different “I am…” statements.
One statement
is found in John 14:6-7
“Jesus
answered, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father
except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From
now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.”
Here is
the first truth that will help you in your journey with Jesus:
Jesus
is always the way the truth and
the life.
This means
that absolutely Jesus was the way to eternal life for you. By faith in Jesus you
are fully forgiven and fully saved. That is secure. That is real. And, Jesus
will continue to be the way that you will follow and live your life from now on.
You may
now call yourself a follower of Jesus and His way.
This might
help: You know how people follow different accounts on social media?
For
example, a person may follow food bloggers to learn about new recipes or new
cooking techniques. Someone might follow history accounts to learn fun history
facts throughout the week. Or maybe a person follows sports accounts to stay up
to date on what’s happening with their team. Well you are now a follower of Jesus.
You get to
follow His way, with His help
The Second
Truth that will help you in your journey with Jesus:
You get
to learn from Jesus teachings and actions.
Both His
teachings, the things He says, and His actions the way He lived will be your
guide.
You're
going to discover more of that in the Bible as you start reading and learning.
You will
start to follow Jesus in the way that you think your thoughts, in the way that
you live your actions, in your values, in your decisions and in many more areas
of life.
You get to
follow Jesus and learn from Him and join His Mission, His way with His help.
So think
about this as you start your new life of faith.
You can
always come back to this undeniable foundational truth: Jesus is the way the
truth and the life! Not just the way to a saving faith, which you now have,
but He is the way you now live your life of faith.
Jesus continues
to be the way, he continues to be the truth, he continues to be the life.
So ponder
that truth today and remember Jesus is always the way and you can always come
back to
him and his example and teachings when you're not sure what to do.
